Sometimes words just aren't enough. There are moments when a video can better illustrate the complexity of feelings and inner struggles than words ever could. That's why I would like to encourage you to watch the following approximately 2-minute video:
We live in a world full of visible suffering – physical illnesses, pain, and hardship that are often right before us.
The Invisible Battles: Why Mental Illnesses Often Remain Hidden
However, many struggles remain hidden, especially when it comes to mental illnesses. The inner battles of a mental illness can be just as severe as any physical illness, but they often go unrecognized. Why? Because many people manage to conceal their inner struggles daily when interacting with others. They are afraid to open up, fearing they won't be understood (and because they don't understand it themselves), or because they don't want to be a burden to others. Who wants to worry their friends and family?
Why it's so hard to talk about Mental Health
But that is the wrong approach. It is important to be able to talk openly when you are not doing well and to seek help. It is perfectly okay. It is normal. And you are not alone in this world.
If you are currently in a phase where you are feeling worse internally than you show outwardly, I want to tell you: You are not alone. Not only we and our alpacas stand behind you!
